First Program

Bill and Liz Metcalfe are stepping down. It's been fun, challenging, beautiful, sometimes even brilliant, from the B-minor Mass to Monteverdi Vespers, from Mikado to Beethoven's 9th.

Oriana Singers began over 35 years ago as an extension of the UVM Baroque Ensemble, and grew to be a mainstay of the classical choral scene in northern Vermont. The group performed extensively with the original Vermont Mozart Festival, works including Haydn's Creation and many of his Masses, Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C-Minor, and Beethoven's Mass in C. More recently the group has paired with orchestra leader Scott Metcalfe and his period-instrument colleagues.

The singers are deeply grateful for the wonderful times we have had with Bill and Liz, for their expertise and joy, and for their giving us the opportunity to sing great music with great people.

A group of singers is working to find a way for Oriana Singers to continue its mission “to perform the greatest choral masterworks in the most beautiful and accomplished way possible.”
